George Clooney says he’s disillusioned with the people who are disillusioned with President Obama. George must be a calm dude because the people who have time to be upset by anything but the perfidy coming from the right infuriate me.
To calm myself, I have to imagine the headlines the disillusioned progressives of today would have written if they were around during the New Deal:

Once I’m calm, I ruminate on the of list accomplishments this President has put together despite comically ridiculous Republican opposition: there’s the rescue of Detroit that has put our auto industry back on top of the world; health care reform that’s already covering millions of Americans and will cover tens of millions more; student loan reform; credit card reform; Wall Street reform, millions of new jobs and the first new tax on the richest 1 percent in a generation.
Honestly, I don’t need to get into the obvious foreign policy successes or think about the President singing Al Green to remind myself why I’m thrilled to vote for this man again.
Despite my penchant for cheerleading the President, I know this election—unless the Republicans are suicidal enough to nominate Newt Gingrich—will come down to the economy in the next few months. And our economy depends largely on Europe’s ability to not act as if they’re a bunch of Republicans.
All of this is prologue as the President gives his third State of the Union address, possibly the most important speech of his presidency. It’s important not because it will swing the election one way or
